The short answer
We remove old wallpaper, repair walls and install new wallcoverings in Broadview Park homes. Because it is only about 6 miles from our shop, site visits and scheduling are simple.
Broadview Park is an unincorporated Broward County community roughly 6 miles southwest of our Fort Lauderdale base, close enough that we can stop by to look at a wall on short notice. Many houses here are single-story concrete-block homes with plaster or drywall over the block, and plenty still carry paper from an earlier owner. A lot of our work in the neighborhood begins with taking something down rather than putting something up. Below is what we see on Broadview Park walls, how we bring them back to a sound surface, and the new coverings we hang once they are ready.
Old paper in older ranch homes
Paper that has been on a wall for a long time behaves unpredictably. Sometimes it peels off in long strips. Sometimes the face comes away and leaves a stubborn backing glued tight. In older ranch houses we also find layers stacked on top of each other, or paper that was painted over, which seals it and makes water-based removal slow.
We test a small area first to learn what we are dealing with. Then we choose between scoring and soaking, steaming, or careful dry stripping. The goal is to lift the paper and adhesive without tearing the drywall face or loosening plaster. Once the wall is bare, we wash off leftover paste, because residue left behind will bleed through paint or keep new paper from bonding.
- Painted-over wallpaper and multiple layers
- Backing paper left behind by a previous removal
- Seams that lifted because of humidity
- Mildew spots behind vinyl in bathrooms
Repairing the wall underneath
Concrete-block exterior walls in South Florida pass heat and moisture inward, and interior finishes over them can show hairline cracks, soft spots or bubbled patches. We cut out loose material, fill and skim the area, sand it smooth and seal the whole surface with a wallcovering primer. That primer gives new paper something consistent to grip and makes the next removal, years from now, much easier.
If we find moisture during prep, we stop and tell you. Damp walls near windows or exterior doors usually point to a leak or condensation issue that needs attention first, particularly after heavy rain in the May to October wet season.
New coverings for a refreshed room
With a clean, sealed wall, the options open up. Some Broadview Park homeowners want a single accent wall behind a sofa or bed. Others paper a whole bedroom, a hallway or a kitchen backsplash area with washable vinyl. Murals work well on long living room walls, and ceiling paper can give a low ranch-style ceiling more character without making it feel heavy.
For renters or anyone who changes décor often, peel-and-stick is a practical choice. Grasscloth suits a quieter room such as a study, away from splashes. We also hang commercial wallcovering for small businesses and offices in the area.

Matching the material to the room
Not every product belongs on every wall in a South Florida house. Bathrooms without a strong exhaust fan stay damp for hours after a shower, so we steer those toward solid vinyl or a coated paper that tolerates moisture and wiping. Kitchens get similar treatment near the stove and sink. Bedrooms and living rooms, where the AC keeps conditions steady, can take almost anything, including natural fibers and delicate printed papers.
We also look at light. A wall that catches strong afternoon sun through a sliding door can fade some inks, and a darker paper there will show it first. Bring us a sample or two and we will tell you honestly how each one is likely to behave in that particular spot.
Scheduling a visit
Being this close to Fort Lauderdale means we can usually look at your walls in person before quoting, which matters on removal jobs where the hidden layers decide how long the work takes. Send photos first if that is easier. Hurricane season runs June 1 to November 30, and if a storm interrupts the calendar we simply move to the next open day.
We also work in Plantation, Lauderhill, Lauderdale Lakes, Dania Beach and Hollywood, so neighbors and family members nearby can often be scheduled the same week.
