Mural Installation for Tamarac Homes

The short answer

We install printed wall murals in Tamarac homes and condos, from custom photo prints to stock designs. Correct sizing with bleed, a smooth primed wall and careful panel alignment are what make the image read as one continuous picture.

A wall mural can make a Tamarac room feel larger, calmer or more playful, depending on the image. A soft watercolor landscape opens up a windowless den. A tropical leaf print carries the patio feeling indoors. A map or skyline gives a home office some character. True Wallpaper Installation installs printed murals in Tamarac, about 8 miles northwest of our home base in Fort Lauderdale, for homeowners in 33319 and 33321. A mural is a single picture split into panels, so there is very little margin for drift. This page covers the decisions that shape a good result, the common mistakes we see when a mural is ordered, and what happens on installation day.

Mistakes to Avoid When Ordering

Most mural trouble begins at checkout, not on the wall. A few minutes of planning saves a reprint.

  • Ordering to exact wall size with no bleed, leaving nothing to trim at uneven ceilings
  • Measuring once instead of at several points across an out-of-square wall
  • Placing a face or focal point where a light switch or thermostat will sit
  • Choosing a thin paper substrate for a humid room like a bath or laundry
  • Ignoring the panel overlap method the printer specifies

Choosing the Right Wall in a Tamarac Home

Murals look best on a broad, uninterrupted wall. In condos and villas, that is often the wall behind the sofa or the one facing the entry. In single-story houses, a bedroom headboard wall or a family room end wall tends to work well. Walls broken by windows can still take a mural, but the image will be cut around them, so it pays to preview how that crop looks before printing.

We are happy to visit, measure, and mark the positions of outlets, vents and openings so you can adjust the artwork file before ordering.

Getting the Wall Ready

A printed image reveals surface texture more than a patterned paper does. Many Tamarac homes have sprayed or troweled textures on drywall and plaster over concrete block. We skim those surfaces smooth when the mural calls for it, then sand and apply a wallcovering primer. Older homes may also have layers of paint or leftover paper under the paint, which we check for so the mural is not hung on a weak base.

If an exterior wall shows signs of moisture, we raise it right away. A mural on a damp wall can bubble or lift along the seams.

On Installation Day

We lay all the panels out in order on a clean surface first, checking numbering, color consistency and any shipping damage. Then we set a plumb line based on where the image needs to be centered, which matters more than the room's corners. Panels go up one at a time, aligned by the printed detail at each seam rather than the panel edge, since printing can vary by a hair.

Excess bleed is trimmed at the ceiling, baseboard and side walls with a fresh blade. Outlet covers go back on over neatly cut openings, and we clean the work area before leaving.

Aftercare Through the Seasons

Keep the AC running at a normal setting for a few days after installation, especially between May and October when outdoor humidity is high. If a storm during hurricane season leaves the house without power and the air turns damp, give the room time to dry out once cooling returns and check the seams. Most murals can be dusted with a dry microfiber cloth; vinyl and coated prints tolerate gentle wiping.

FAQ

Common questions

Do you install murals from any brand?

We install murals from most printers and online shops. Share the product specs so we can match the adhesive and seam method.

How much bleed should my mural have?

Follow the printer's guidance, but expect a few inches beyond the wall on each side so there is room to trim.

Can a mural go in a bathroom?

Choose a vinyl or coated print and make sure the room has a working exhaust fan. Thin paper prints are not a good fit.

Can murals be removed later?

Yes. On a properly primed wall, most non-woven murals come off with little damage.

What if the mural panels do not line up?

We dry-fit before pasting, so printing errors are found early and can be raised with the seller before installation.

Ready to plan your wallpaper project?

Tell us about the room, the paper you have in mind and the condition of the walls. We will follow up to look at the space and map out the work.
