The short answer
We hang wallpaper throughout Plantation homes, from powder rooms and bedrooms to two-story foyers. Each room gets a paper type suited to its humidity and traffic, a smooth primed wall and a layout planned so patterns look centered and straight.
Plantation is a largely residential city in central Broward County, and its homes range from single-story ranch houses on wide lots to townhomes and newer two-story builds in planned communities. That variety means wallpaper projects here vary too. A powder room in a townhome in 33324 needs a different approach than a two-story foyer in 33322 or a home office in an older ranch in 33317. We come out from Fort Lauderdale, about eight miles to the east, to hang all types of residential wallcovering. Instead of a general overview, this page walks through the rooms we are asked to paper most often in Plantation and what each one demands.
Powder rooms and guest baths
This is the most common starting point. The room is small, guests see it, and a bold pattern is less of a commitment than in a living area. Powder rooms without a shower can take most papers, though vinyl or coated products are easier to keep clean near the sink. Full baths with showers need a moisture-resistant vinyl and a working exhaust fan.
The challenge is the number of cuts. Mirrors, vanities, toilets and pipes all interrupt the pattern, so layout matters more than anywhere else in the house.
Lighting is the other detail people overlook. Vanity lights mounted close to the wall rake across the surface and exaggerate any seam or bump, so powder rooms get our most careful prep. Metallic and high-gloss papers look striking under those fixtures but reveal every flaw underneath, while matte papers are more forgiving on imperfect walls.
Two-story foyers and stairwells
Some Plantation homes have tall entries or open stair walls. These spaces look great papered but require scaffolding or tall ladders, long strips and extra attention to keeping the pattern level as it runs up and along a staircase. We plan where the pattern breaks at the stair stringer and at the upstairs landing before the first strip is cut.
Non-woven papers are a good fit for these walls because they do not expand when pasted, which keeps long drops from stretching out of alignment.
Bedrooms, offices and living spaces
Rooms that stay air-conditioned and see little moisture give you the most freedom. Traditional papers, delicate prints, textured weaves and even natural fibers can work. In larger living rooms, we often discuss whether to paper the whole room or a single wall; full-room coverage creates a wrapped, cozy feel, while a single wall keeps a big space open and bright.
Home offices have become a frequent request. A pattern behind the desk that looks good on camera, without being so busy it distracts, is the usual goal.
Kitchens and breakfast nooks sit somewhere in between. A scrubbable vinyl near the cooking area and a softer paper on a dining wall can share one color story, and we can help you choose two coordinating products that hang well side by side.
What prep looks like in Plantation homes
Many houses here have drywall with a sprayed knockdown or orange-peel texture. Wallpaper over that texture shows every bump in side light, so we skim the walls smooth when needed. Ranch homes may also have plaster on block exterior walls, which can crack near windows and doors. Both get repaired, sanded and sealed with a wallcovering primer before any paper is hung.
- Remove switch plates, outlet covers and wall-mounted items
- Repair cracks, nail pops and dents; skim texture if it would show
- Apply wallcovering primer and let it dry fully
- Snap a plumb line and plan where the pattern starts and ends
- Hang, match and trim; reinstall covers and clean up
Keeping new wallpaper stable in our climate
From May through October, humidity stays high, and summer storms can knock out power for hours. Run your AC normally during installation and for a few days afterward. If you spend summers away, leaving the thermostat at a moderate setting rather than off protects both your walls and your paper.
We also serve Sunrise, Lauderhill, Lauderdale Lakes, Tamarac and North Lauderdale.
